Every month, every season, the drive from Calgary down to our cabin in Montana looks completely different — and somehow more beautiful every single time.
On this trip, I sat in the passenger seat taking photos, hoping to capture some of the incredible landscapes we’re lucky enough to see so often. From the rolling hills and skies that stretch forever in the ranchlands of Alberta, through the mountains of BC the rise higher and every turn feels like a postcard, and into the wide-open beauty of Montana, the scenery changes constantly along the drive and the this road drive feels slower somehow — calmer. It reminds us why we keep coming back.
What started as “just taking a few pictures” quickly turned into hundreds of photos on my camera roll.
And honestly? Editing them was the hardest part.
I originally planned to create a simple collage with a handful of favorites, but every photo felt impossible to leave out. Snow-covered mountains, winding highways, golden fields, rivers, forests — every stretch of the drive had its own kind of beauty.
Looking back through the photos reminded us how lucky we are to experience this journey month after month. It’s easy to rush through familiar places, but sometimes slowing down and really looking around makes you appreciate them in a whole new way.
I also put together a video from the trip (on TikTok, we would love a follow) to help show just how incredible this drive really is. Pictures barely do it justice.
